Theatre in the woods at Camp Bestival

Camp Bestival 2012 preview

I designed and oversaw the build of Gideon Reeling’s interactive promenade performance The Number One Seed. Transforming the woodland trail into a nightime journey through an imaginary 80s village which was hosting a fairly familiar sporting event I created a series of scenes…

A black-lit yuppie bar that only admitted carniverous characters, a broken down (but soon to be re-launched) cable car, a super-dooper-hyper-market-metro-express run by a coockoo obsessed with pyramid schemes. The characters mingled with the festival goers and the set emerged from the woods.

The Dingly Dell, a shaded walk through the woods and ponds used for various activities including the packed to bursting Fantastic Mr Fox Opera, the highly amusing Gideon Reeling (a completely whacky take on sporting activities with cloven hoof characters randomly discussing the 100m Gurgles with you) and poetry sessions. We went here several times! Justin Madgwick
